ROLE OVERVIEW
Apply early for our seasonal roles-interviews are beginning soon. Our season kicks off in April and runs through November with the possibility of extending into December. This position is responsible for safely controlling the movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects. You will also complete various laborer and small equipment operation tasks to produce quality asphalt paving or concrete projects.
SCHEDULE
The typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with an occasional Saturday. Hours may vary based on weather and customer demand.
COMPENSATION
$22.00 per hour
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary of components that make up the job:

- Safely control movement of motoring public through construction site.
- Discusses traffic routing plans and type of location of control points with supervisor.
- Directs movement of traffic through site using sign hand and flag signals.
- Warns construction workers when approaching vehicles fail to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers.
- Inform drivers of detour routes through construction sites.
- Records license number of traffic control violation for police.
- May give hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic for flagger at opposite end of site signaling clearance for reverse flow of traffic.
- Monitors and discusses traffic flow problems with work crew and supervisor.
- Measures distance from grade stakes, drive stakes & stretch tight line.
- Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment movement and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
- Levels earth using pick or shovel, Aggregate or asphalt.
- Levels blacktop using lute.
- Raise manhole covers.
- Performs laborer duties as needed, such as below.
- May operate small powered hand tools.
- May operate small equipment including bobcat tractor, roller, or move from one site to another.
- Safely and properly perform maintenance, lubricating, fueling, and cleaning, and operate small equipment such as bobcat tractor, jackhammer, roller, pickup truck, air compressor, tractor, packer, steel drum, or rubber tire roller.
- Shovel excess material away from crushers, screen, or wash plant unit as needed.
- Remove road joints.
- Hook and unhook small trailer to pick-up.
- Fill sandbags.
- Ensure OSHA safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Performs other duties assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum educational experience or other relevant job requirements:
- General education, grammar, and arithmetic, GED, or high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record.
PREferred REQUIREMENTS
Preferred requirements, i.e., certifications, software use, etc.:
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and Saturdays as needed.
- Able to operate skid steer for cleanup of materials.
- Able to drive trucks, skid steer trailer combination to transport skid steers and other equipment and materials, and from site to site.
- CDL license
