Aquila's Fitness Specialist performs a wide range of technical fitness, exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center.

Pay Rate: $25.50-$28.50/hour, depending on credentials and experience. 

Work Hours: 40 hours/week - 8 hour shifts sometime between 6 am and 5 pm.    

Start date: summer 2026

Location: Fully in-person - Cape May, NJ

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct fitness assessments to determine the baseline fitness levels of population
  • Lead fitness training sessions, including cardiovascular exercises, strength training, flexibility exercises, and endurance workouts.
  • Provide guidance on proper nutrition and lifestyle habits to support overall health and fitness goals
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of population during fitness training sessions, providing feedback and adjustments as necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, fitness assessments, and program outcomes
  • Collaborate with client contacts to ensure the seamless integration of fitness training into the overall program curriculum
  • Stay updated on current fitness trends, research, and best practices to continually improve the effectiveness of the fitness training program
  •  Provide daily routine cleanliness, inventory, and storage of exercise equipment used by the population
  • Supervise exercise areas
  • Aid population with spotting and equipment usage
  • Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
  • Adhere to client’s policies and procedures
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
  • Perform daily administrative duties
  • Any other responsibility as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Active NCCA accredited fitness certification (ACE, NASM, NCCPT, NCSF, AFAA, ACSM or NSCA) - required
  • B.S. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or in related health/fitness field (preferred)
  • CPR certification - required
  • U.S. citizenship required as this is a federal agency
  • 0-1 years experience in supervising adults during exercises
