Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill part-time a maximum of 24 hours per week positions as a student staff member working at the Fitness Center andor Student Success Center for Oregon State University-Cascades OSU-Cascades in Bend Oregon. Anticipated Hourly Rate 17.00.

Position Duties

This position will provide primary student support to both the OSU-Cascades Fitness Center and the Student Success Center. While not all students earning this position will work in both facilities this position allows for a pool of candidates that can more easily cover both areas at any given time due to the similar customer service nature.Additionally this position will assist the newly forming Sports & Recreation programming with occasional event setup and support for grass volleyball basketball and other outdoor activities. These hours are not guaranteed but an opportunity for hired staff to get more work hours in support the general fitness center and SSC overlapping functions.

FITNESS CENTER OPERATIONS

Welcome greet and provide quality service to facility users Positively represent the Office of Student Life and the University Ensure patrons check into the facility upon entry Uphold facility and office policies and procedures apply safe practices Maintain constant surveillance of facility and fitness center users Provide emergency responsecare if necessary until more advanced care arrives act calmly and efficiently in emergency situations Report any incident of injury theft or broken equipment to the Campus Recreation Coordinator Organize and clean equipment Perform minor equipment maintenance Contribute to the communication log each shift Perform openingclosing duties of fitness center Attend staff meetings and trainings Follow directions and complete assignments

STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER OPERATIONS

Welcome greet and provide quality service to facility users during non-business operating hours 5pm-10pm M-Th Positively represent the Office of Student Life and the University Ensure patrons check into the food pantryfacility upon entry Uphold facility and office policies and procedures apply safe practices Maintain hourly walkthroughs of facility Communicate with campus safety personal for any situations that arise that fall outside of position duties Report any incident of injury theft or broken equipment Organize and reset furniture for the facility Contribute to the communication log each shift Attend staff meetings and trainings Follow directions and complete assignments

Minimum Qualifications

High School student Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student 6 credit hours per term

Undergraduate international student 12 credit hours per term

Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School 5 credit hours per term

Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School 9 credit hours per term

International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services USCIS. A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services OIS and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

In good standing with the University maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of hire and throughout employment Able to work 10-16 hours a week. Availability during FC and SSC operating hours Reliable and trustworthy Ability to communicate rules and regulations and hold users accountable Experience working with others preferably in customer serviceoffice setting Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctual Ability to address and resolve conflict This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position therefore the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
