Fiscal Technician (Financial Services Specialist)

We are currently sourcing qualified candidates for a position as a Fiscal Technician (Financial Services Specialist) to work on-site in Newport News, VA.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain Fiscal Data: Perform bookkeeping, accounting, and fiscal duties to support district and office administrative operations.
• Post Transactions: Exercise discretion and judgment to accurately classify, proof, and post financial transactions to journals and ledgers.
• Reconcile Accounts: Take trial balances, reconcile accounts, and maintain control accounts to compare active expenditures against established budgets.
• Generate Financial Reports: Prepare comprehensive fiscal summaries and detailed financial reports for management review.
• Process Payroll: Collect payroll information, verify pay rates, confirm authorizations, and manage employee deductions.
• Manage Pay Accounts: Create pay accounts, review employee timesheets, and calculate, prepare, and process routine payrolls.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma

• Working knowledge of the Commonwealth Accounting System (Cardinal)

• Knowledge of state accounting policies and procedures
