Position Overview We are seeking a passionate, qualified Lead Teacher for our First Class Pre-K classroom. The Lead Teacher will plan and deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum, build positive relationships with children and families, and uphold program standards set by the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement daily instruction aligned with Alabama First Class Pre-K curriculum standards
- Observe, document, and assess child development and learning progress
- Maintain open communication with families and program staff
- Complete all required documentation and annual professional development hours
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following:
- Human Environmental Science with a concentration in Early Childhood Development or Child Development
- Early Childhood Education (B.S. or B.A.), or a degree leading to P-3 certification with at least 18 credit hours in early childhood or child development
- Special Education in Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education certification, with at least 18 credit hours in early childhood or child development
- Completion of 30 hours of professional development annually (15 OSR-sponsored, 15 local/regional)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education (additional supplemental salary may apply)
- Prior First Class Pre-K or accredited early childhood classroom experience
Work Schedule
- 187-day school year
- 7.5 hours per day | 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Compensation Salary is commensurate with education and experience, per the Alabama First Class Pre-K Lead Teacher Salary Matrix.
