Role Overview:
Responsible for supervising and coordinating the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems on commercial and/or industrial job sites. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct sprinkler fitters and apprentices on job sites; assist with installation as needed
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily work activities to meet project deadlines
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Ensure installation complies with NFPA standards, local codes, and company policies
- Coordinate with general contractors, other trades, and inspectors
- Monitor material usage and ensure proper handling and storage of equipment
- Conduct site safety meetings and enforce safety regulations
- Inspect work for quality control and resolve issues as they arise
- Maintain accurate daily reports, timekeeping, and project documentation
- Train and mentor crew members to improve performance and skill development
Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of experience in fire sprinkler installation; prior leadership experience preferred
Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, piping, and installation methods
- Familiarity with NFPA codes and local regulations
- Ability to read blueprints and construction documents
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Working Conditions:
- Indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to high and low temperatures
- Exposure to noise and dust
- Must be able to bend, climb, and work at heights and in confined spaces
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, or working in awkward positions
Other:
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record
