This individual will lead a group of 3 - 5 fire sprinkler designers by providing knowledge support and training.He or she will work closely with the DivisionLeadersto schedule and coordinate design.This positionis responsible forplanning and directing the accomplishments of the design departmentobjectives as well as performing a wide variety of dutiesrequiredtomaintainthe efficientday-to-dayoperations of direct reports of the department within the office.TheFire Protection Design Manager should be a self-starterpossessingtime management scheduling staff management and leadershipskills and experience.This individual will both perform and oversee the performance of design and coordination for fire sprinkler systems.There will also begrowth opportunities through company sponsored leadership development courses andtrainings.This individual will alsobe requiredto lead by example.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupport a group of 3-5 fire sprinkler designers by providing leadership and training.Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub-contractors and General Contractorowner to gather the required information to design the projects sprinkler system.Thorough useof analytical thinking and problem solvingdetermineconstruction feasibility and systems possibilities.Create detailed drawings through extensive use of AutoCADAutoSprink orHydraCADtype programs.Coordinate with other trades using BIM3D modeling.Createstocklist for all materialrequiredthroughout the project.Perform hydraulic calculations.Develop initial schedules for preliminary project work.Maintain designhistorical records for future use.Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure the companyis meetingcustomers expectations.Coordinate with other departments within the office to ensure proper handover of job information.Complete other assigned responsibilities as directed by immediate supervisor or other IFP management personnel.Continuallymonitorprogress of projects review reports to ensure compliance with schedule and budgetary guidelines.Assistlead duringfieldcheck stage of the project.Ensureworkcomplies withcodes and permits.Report tothe ownerand general contractor about progress and any necessary modificationsrequired.Knowledge of firealarmand special hazarddesignis a plus.EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONSNICET III certificationFive years minimum experienceincommercialandindustrial designisrequired.Residential experience is a plus.JOB QUALIFICATIONSDemonstrated ability with AutoCADAutoSprinkHydraCAD or other specialized fire sprinkler layout software.BIM3D Coordination experience.Supervisoryexperiencea plus.Proven ability andtrack recordof performing workin a timely mannerand meeting deadlines.Detail-oriented.Possess good communicationskills.Willingness and ability to teach others.Coordinate and work well with others.Must pass a drug screen test and a background check.Compensation & BenefitsThis role will be based out of our Madison Alabama branch.
