Job Position: Fire Alarm Technician
Location: New Braunfels, TX 78130
Pay Rate: $26.00 $32.00/hr
TradeSTAR is seeking experienced Fire Alarm Technicians to support commercial fire alarm installation, service, and commissioning projects throughout New Braunfels and the surrounding area. We are looking for technicians with hands-on experience working with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and multi-tenant environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, program, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NEC, and project specifications.
Install and service initiating devices including smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, duct detectors, and monitor/control modules.
Install and terminate notification appliances including horn/strobes, speaker/strobes, and emergency communication devices.
Perform point-to-point testing, system acceptance testing, and commissioning activities.
Troubleshoot wiring faults, ground faults, device communication issues, and panel-related system troubles.
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, sequence of operations, device layouts, and fire alarm shop drawings.
Install and terminate FACP components, power supplies, NAC circuits, SLC loops, and network communication modules.
Support system upgrades, retrofits, inspections, and service calls.
Complete accurate documentation, testing reports, and as-built drawings.
Coordinate with project managers, AHJs, inspectors, and other trades to ensure successful project completion.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of commercial fire alarm installation, service, or inspection experience.
Experience with addressable fire alarm systems and low-voltage fire alarm infrastructure.
Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC Article 760, and industry installation standards.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, riser diagrams, and fire alarm specifications.
Experience using multimeters, circuit testers, and fire alarm testing equipment.
Familiarity with systems such as Notifier, Silent Knight, Edwards, Simplex, Siemens, Fire-Lite, or similar manufacturers is preferred.
NICET certification is a plus but not required.
OSHA 10 certification preferred.
Reliable transportation and ability to work on active commercial construction sites.
