Job Position: Fire Alarm Technician

Location: College Station, TX 77843

Pay Rate: 18 $20/hr

TradeSTAR is hiring experienced Fire Alarm Technicians for commercial installation, service, and commissioning projects throughout the College Station area. These positions support healthcare facilities, educational campuses, industrial sites, office buildings, multifamily developments, and large-scale commercial construction projects.
We are seeking technicians with experience installing, troubleshooting, testing, and servicing commercial fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA and local code requirements.

Job Responsibilities
Install, terminate, troubleshoot, and service commercial fire alarm systems
Install fire alarm control panels, annunciators, smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, monitor modules, control modules, horn/strobes, duct detectors, and relay devices
Pull and route FPL, FPLP, and low-voltage fire alarm cabling through conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, and structured pathways
Perform device addressing, programming assistance, and system diagnostics
Troubleshoot SLC loops, NAC circuits, Class A/Class B wiring, ground faults, and communication failures
Conduct inspections, testing, commissioning, and final acceptance testing
Read and interpret riser diagrams, wiring schematics, floor plans, sequence of operations, and fire alarm submittals
Verify proper operation of integrated systems including elevator recall, door release functions, smoke control interfaces, and suppression monitoring
Document inspections, service work, deficiencies, and as-built changes
Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, general contractors, and other trades to ensure successful project completion

Technical Requirements
2+ years of commercial fire alarm installation or service experience
Experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
Knowledge of NFPA 72 requirements and NEC standards
Ability to troubleshoot field devices, control panels, and system communication issues
Experience reading and interpreting fire alarm drawings and technical documentation
Understanding of life safety system integration and commercial low-voltage wiring methods
Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required
