Job Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems or components in school
district buildings, ensuring they function properly and according to local and national fire codes. Works and
coordinates with Fire Sprinkler Technicians and any other fire service contractors when required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Complies with the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession; upholds and enforces rules, administrative
directives, regulations, GISD school board policies, as well as local, state and federal regulations.
All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and computer security
regulations.
Installation:
Read blueprints/engineer drawings and project specifications to understand system layout.
Ability to install wiring and components associated with fire alarm systems.
Drill penetrations through walls and floors for wiring/conduit if needed.
Maintenance and Inspection:
Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm systems and components to identify potential
issues.
Daily review of alarm monitoring reports and investigate trouble reported.
Perform necessary repairs and replacements on damaged or malfunctioning components.
Schedule and accompany fire inspection contractors on annual/semi-annual and quarterly
inspections.
Accompany fire marshal during inspections of district facilities.
Implement and document fire watch operations when necessary
Troubleshooting and Repair:
o Diagnose system malfunctions by analyzing error codes and system behavior.
o Identify and address code violations
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and system modifications
Generate reports detailing findings and recommended actions
Communicate with supervisors regarding system status
Perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly works indoors and will work outdoors. The
employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic
or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines
with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually from moderate to loud.
