Position Overview
We are seeking a Fire Alarm / Methane Gas Alarm Technician to join our field team. This role involves installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of commercial alarm systems across job sites in Greater Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside, with occasional travel (approximately 10%) within the contiguous United States.
This position is suitable for experienced technicians or individuals with strong electrical backgrounds who are willing to grow into this specialty.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and service fire alarm and methane gas alarm systems in commercial buildings
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, work orders, and technical documentation
- Diagnose and repair system issues using standard testing equipment and procedures
- Install conduit, junction boxes, wiring, and related electrical components
- Use hand tools, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts (up to 40 feet) safely and effectively
- Work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, and above-ceiling environments as required
- Maintain accurate inventory and company vehicle stock
- Communicate professionally with clients, supervisors, and team members
- Follow all safety standards, codes, and company procedures
- Lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 lbs
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs
Qualifications
Required:
- Electrical or high-voltage experience
- Ability to install conduit and perform basic electrical work
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and documentation
- Familiarity with test equipment (e.g., multimeters)
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently in the field
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic computer skills
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
- Ability to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred:
- 1+ year experience in fire alarm systems OR 2+ years in electrical field work
- Familiarity with NEC and NFPA codes
- Experience installing or programming alarm systems
- Technical certifications (e.g., NICET)
Travel & Work Conditions
- Work performed primarily in Greater Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside
- Occasional travel within the contiguous United States (approximately 10%)
- Field work may include heights, confined spaces, and physically demanding environments
