This position pays between $18.15 - $19.40/hr based on experience. The Inpatient Financial Counseling Specialist performs the task of benefit education and validation. This includes face-to-face review of inpatient benefits, authorization, and collecting inpatient, observation, and outpatient in a bed liability throughout Ensemble Health Partners.

Responsibilities

The Financial Counseling Specialist will work within the policies and processes as they are being performed across the entire organization. They are responsible for performing these functions while meeting the mission of Ensemble Health Partners and all regulatory compliance requirements.

Responsibilities include:

• Assessing and collecting patient liabilities
• Verifying patient insurance and financial information to determine liability
• Utilizing face-to-face communication with patients during their stay to collect the estimated patient liability
• Assisting in facilitating daily in-house call reviews to include all needed parties to validate that patients have a valid payor source with authorization on the account for the current stay
• Completing pre-registration and registration tasks
• Monitoring missed collection opportunities for potential process improvements and follow-up
• Making follow-up phone calls to patients that are unable to make payment while in-house
• Sending letters to patients addresses post-discharge detailing an estimated liability as well as options to pay
• Working with patients to sign consent to treat, observation, Important Message from Medicare, and other registration-related forms if applicable
• Assisting eligibility specialists in the verification of insurance information, Medicaid, and charity processing, and other tasks as needed
• Running a daily census to determine patients with potential eligibility
• Assisting in the collection and organization of outpatient orders as they relate to future and current dates of service, utilizing queues built within various Revenue Cycle systems.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) Required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid)
