Financial Assistance Specialist

Job Summary:
This position provides Medicaid enrollment support and financial assistance services for community-based individuals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Screen and assist with all steps of the Medicaid and Charity Care/Other Assistance Programs enrollment process.
- Make/take phone calls related to the Medicaid and Charity Process to both patients and Medicaid state representatives.
- Gather, verify, evaluate, and enter necessary social, financial, and medical information into various forms/applications.
- Collaborate with on-site leadership and financial counselors to ensure timely submission of Medicaid or Charity applications based off program guidelines.
- Maintain proper certification and training on federal and state level (if required).
- Maintain a knowledge base of the current Medicaid/Charity/Other Assistance Programs within the state and keep up to date with ongoing changes to any policies and procedures - Federal, State, Organization.
- Meet or exceed daily standards for performance, accuracy, customer service, and quality.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Recognizes and consistently exhibits exceptional customer service as a critical factor in all duties performed.
- The ability to work within a remote call center environment free from distractions and background noise.
- Proficient in typing.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize and multi-task.
- General knowledge of health insurance guidelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing. Bilingual a plus.
Work Experience, Education and Certifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Previous enrollment experience in the medical field preferred.
