Financial Analyst III

Drive Financial Integrity. Recover Value. Improve the Process.

Are you the type of financial analyst who sees beyond the numbers? Do you enjoy uncovering hidden discrepancies, solving complex payment issues, and building smarter processes that prevent costly errors before they happen?

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Analyst III Payment Accuracy & Recovery to join a dynamic team focused on financial controls, invoice compliance, and recovery analytics. This is a high-impact role where finance, contracts, operations, and business strategy intersect.

You'll play a critical role in protecting company financial performance by identifying invoice inaccuracies, recovering overpayments, improving controls, and partnering cross-functionally to strengthen payment integrity across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing

Audit & Recovery Analysis

  • Conduct detailed post-payment invoice audits to verify charges against contracts, service agreements, rate schedules, and commercial terms.
  • Investigate payment discrepancies including duplicate payments, billing errors, unauthorized charges, and incorrect pricing structures.
  • Quantify financial exposure and recovery opportunities while preparing clear audit findings and executive-level reporting.
  • Lead recovery efforts with vendors and internal stakeholders, including claims, credits, offsets, and dispute resolution support.

Financial & Contractual Analysis

  • Translate complex contract language into practical financial controls and auditable payment rules.
  • Evaluate liability ownership and determine root causes behind invoice inaccuracies or process breakdowns.
  • Analyze large and complex data sets to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Design and implement preventative controls, automation enhancements, validation processes, and standardized workflows.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, AP, IT, and Commercial teams to strengthen payment governance and reduce recurring errors.
  • Develop SOPs, training materials, playbooks, and best practices that drive long-term compliance and operational excellence.

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in payment integrity, invoice compliance, and recovery analytics.
  • Support cross-functional decision-making with data-driven financial and contractual insights.
  • Proactively identify emerging vendor billing risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Financial analysis
    • Invoice auditing
    • Recovery analytics
    • Payment integrity or related finance functions
  • Strong experience working with ERP systems such as SAP and invoice processing platforms
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret complex contracts and apply contractual terms to financial transactions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Legal authorization to work in the applicable country

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within transportation, logistics, railroad, industrial, or large operational environments
  • Advanced Excel capabilities including pivot tables, formulas, modeling, and data analysis
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Strong documentation, audit storytelling, and executive presentation skills
  • Experience identifying process gaps and implementing sustainable operational improvements

Why This Role Stands Out

This is more than a traditional financial analyst position. It's an opportunity to become a strategic problem-solver who directly impacts financial performance, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation across a large-scale business environment.

If you thrive in investigative analytics, enjoy solving complex financial puzzles, and want your work to drive measurable business value, we'd love to hear from you.
