Job Summary
Under general supervision, work independently on a wide range of responsibilities, including contracts and grants submission, extramural account management, departmental and discretionary account oversight, general accounting, recharge account management and rate development. Provide directions and oversight for day-to-day operations of the School of Law Business Operations Office. Recommend improvements to business processes and procedures and advise the Director of Financial Services on the impact of policy and procedural changes. Suggest and develop methods and procedures to meet department goals and lead training for Business Transaction Assistants. Select, hire and train student assistants assigned to the unit. Assist the supervisor in monitoring daily workload and adjusting assignments based adjustments based on staffing and operational needs.
Provide highly technical financial, purchasing, account payable and receivables, and contracts and grants support for assigned faculty and programs. Review and reconcile departmental ledgers monthly and assist with the fiscal closing. Manage equipment inventory and biennial report. Serve as Fiscal Officer, interpreting University and campus policies and procedures, and review and approving documents of assigned accounts in Aggie Expense and Aggie Enterprise. Maintain organized, track-able documentation and apply problem-solving skills to resolve issues, exercise judgment and discretion in handling sensitive, confidential issues. Review, run and analyze general ledger reports to communicate financial information to directors, PIs, staff and student organization leaders, internal and external partners, and advisory board members. Assist with both pre-award and post-award grant administration.

The school has nearly 600 Juris Doctor (JD) students enrolled in the full-time 3-year program, as well as a LL.M Program, certificates in Public Service Law, Business Law, Criminal Law, Environmental Law, Immigration Law, Intellectual Property Law and Tax Law, and Joint Degree programs, including JD/MBA, and JD/MA.The budget for the Law School exceeds $40 million including state funds, tuition and professional fee revenue, gifts, and endowments. Current market value of endowments exceeds $12 million. School facilities include 60,000 square feet in 3 buildings. The School has 40 active faculty and more than 100 staff.This lead position shares responsibility of providing business transaction processing with two other staff members that back each other up during absences and peak workload periods.
