Page 1 of 3 North Orange County Regional Health Foundation Job Description Title: Financial Analyst I Hourly Range: $25.000 - $33.00 Reports to: Director of Finance Classification: Full -Time Hourly, Non -Exempt Position Summary Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Analyst I (Accounts Payable & Cost Support) is responsible for supporting accounts payable functions and assisting with basic financial analysis activities within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial operations while supporting the organization's efforts to better understand cost of care, service line performance, and financial sustainability. The role will assist in gathering, organizing , and analyzing financial data to support budgeting, reporting, and emerging value- based care initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Accounts Payable (Primary Function) • Receive, review, and process vendor invoices in a timely and accurate manner • Code invoices to appropriate accounts, departments, and funding sources • Route invoices for approval and ensure proper documentation is maintained • Assist with payment processing, including checks and electronic payments • Maintain vendor files and respond to vendor inquiries • Support reconciliation of accounts payable to the general ledger 2. General Accounting Support • Assist with basic journal entries and account reconciliations • Support month -end closing activities • Maintain organized financial records and documentation • Assist with audit preparation by gathering requested materials 3. Cost Accounting & Data Support (Entry -Level Scope) • Assist in gathering data for cost analysis, including: o Expenses by department or service line o Staffing and supply costs Page 2 of 3 • Support basic calculations such as cost per visit or cost by program under supervision • Help maintain spreadsheets and tracking tools used for cost allocation • Participate in reviewing financial data for accuracy and completeness 4. Budgeting & Reporting Support • Assist in preparing budget worksheets and tracking expenses against budget • Support development of routine financial reports (e.g., budget vs. actual) • Help compile data for leadership reports and dashboards • Work with departments to track and monitor expenditures 5. Value -Based Care & Financial Analysis Support (Developmental) • Assist in collecting and organizing data related to reimbursement and payer mix • Support basic analysis related to service utilization and financial performance • Learn and support financial tracking related to programs such as care coordination and enabling services • Participate in projects that support payment reform readiness under guidance 6. Grants & Program Support • Assist in tracking grant- related expenses • Help ensure expenses are coded appropriately to funding sources • Support preparation of basic financial reports for grant programs 7. Compliance & Documentation • Follow organizational financial policies and procedures • Assist in maintaining documentation required for audits and reviews • Support compliance with federal, state, and FQHC financial requirements 8. Collaboration & Communication • Work collaboratively with finance staff and other departments • Communicate with vendors and internal staff in a professional manner • Ask questions and seek guidance to build knowledge in healthcare finance Minimum Qualifications • Associate's degree in Accounting , Finance, Business, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience • Minimum 2 -3 years of experience in: o Accounts payable, accounting support, or financial operations • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, simple formulas, spreadsheets) Page 3 of 3 Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field • Experience in a healthcare setting, community clinic, or FQHC • Exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, or data analysis • Familiarity with accounting systems or electronic financial platforms Key Competencies • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Willingness to learn and grow in financial analysis and healthcare finance • Basic analytical and problem -solving skills • Good organizational and time management skills • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Typical Work Environment • Office -based role with regular computer use • May require occasional travel between clinic sites (if applicable) Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual assigned this position.
