Financial Analyst (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Akron, OH

Aspen Technical Staffing is seeking a Financial Analyst for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Akron, OH. This role supports multiple project teams across all phases of design and construction, providing critical financial, cost control, and forecasting support to ensure project success and financial accuracy.

Position Overview

The Financial Analyst will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Construction teams to develop and maintain cost controls, forecasts, and financial reporting tools. This role plays a key part in ensuring project budgets, schedules, and commitments are accurately tracked and aligned across systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support multiple Project Managers concurrently across various project phases (design through construction)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal and external cost reports, cash flows, and forecasts
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to project cost reports and financial forecasts
  • Perform baseline analysis to identify variances in budget and schedule performance
  • Administer change control processes, tracking risks, trends, and change orders
  • Conduct quality checks on project controls deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Lead weekly project controls meetings and coordinate communication with internal teams and clients
  • Develop and implement project controls tools, templates, and reporting systems
  • Maintain project estimates aligned with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) account coding
  • Compare project schedules to financial data to ensure alignment of timelines and budgets
  • Analyze project controls reports and present findings with recommendations to leadership
  • Track budgets against open commitments, purchase orders, and subcontracts
  • Review upstream (prime contracts) and downstream (POs/subcontracts) change orders
  • Manage and integrate data across multiple project control systems
  • Serve as a primary technical resource for APMs, PMs, Lead Engineers, and Construction staff
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in project controls, financial analysis, or construction/project finance

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel required)
  • Experience with SAP, Coupa, EcoSys, and Unifier preferred
  • Strong Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and macros
  • Ability to integrate schedule and financial data for reporting and analysis

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and make sound, timely decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
