Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to help plan a system of outreach and recruitment services and activities for prospective students at high schools, community partners, and federal/state/local agencies that provide student services. The Financial Aid Outreach Coordinator will report to the Director of Financial Aid Services. This position will work to identify and promote College programs and financial aid opportunities to public and private organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

One (1) year experience in higher education.

Valid Driver License with ability to obtain a Texas Driver License within 90 days of hire and be insurable by Del Mar College.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of all federal and state financial aid programs that will include federal and state regulations as well as the ability to update our community partners of constantly changing financial aid landscape.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to lead financial aid presentations for ISD's all over south Texas as well as on campus.

Ability to multi-task in a fast paced college environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) years directly related financial aid experience.

Job Duty

Help plan a system of outreach and recruitment services and activities for prospective students at high schools, community partners, other College departments, and federal/state/local agencies that provide student services.

Job Duty

Assist prospective students with the financial aid process; provide information and assistance to prospective students regarding general program information, advising, admission, orientation, testing, financial aid, transfer of transcripts, special populations assistance, etc.

Job Duty

During peak times, assist with processing financial assistance files, advising students and parents in the financial aid process, work late evenings and weekends on occasion, disseminate financial aid information at orientation and various financial aid workshops, and work the lines in the financial aid office when necessary.

Assist the financial assistance office during peak time with processing financial aid files and follow up with prospective students with all of their financial assistance needs such as; FAFSA completion, special circumstances, verification, dependency overrides and institutional/private scholarship search. Assist the Director of Financial Aid Services in the development of brochures/handouts and compile information for future use by students and the general public; Maintain and update outreach files, prepare and submit outreach reports as needed.

Job Duty

The outreach position will work to identify and promote College programs and financial aid opportunities to public and private organizations, such as Independent School Districts and charter schools, PTAs, business and community organizations, and solicit participation by networking with private industry, local agencies and organizations, and other groups within the community.

Maintain a professional demeanor when counseling students and accurately identify any barriers in achieving goals and discuss or suggest effective alternatives.

Job Duty

Represent the College by attending college fairs, financial aid nights, job fairs and community events, outreach activities, and other special events (such as campus preview days and tours) through on-site visits, presentations, workshops, etc.
