Job Summary

The Financial Aid Advisor (Processing and Eligibility Coordinator) is an administrative role responsible for managing data processing and eligibility coordination tasks. This position plays a key role in ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations across multiple domains of financial aid administration. The Coordinator will be responsible for conducting monthly federal and state reconciliations, preparing comprehensive eligibility reports, and maintaining rigorous data accuracy standards.

Additionally, the position requires serving as a Financial Aid Advisor, providing guidance to students and their families about various aid programs, HOPE scholarship eligibility, and academic progress requirements.

This employee must demonstrate exceptional multitasking abilities, self-motivation, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail, effective time management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a positive, proactive approach are essential. As well as dedication to the missions of the Financial Aid Office, the Enrollment Management Division and GCSU.

Responsibilities

Advising and Eligibility Monitoring - 40

  • Provide comprehensive counseling to prospective and current students and parents regarding federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, explaining regulations and financing options through in-person, phone, and email communications.
  • Assist in conducting end-of-term processing by reviewing student grades to determine continued financial aid eligibility.
  • As needed, assist in reviewing reports to confirm compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations and eligibility requirements.

Reporting - 30

Prepare and submit monthly federal and state reconciliation reports, carefully balancing documentation with the GCSU Business Office and corresponding federal and state agencies

Cross-Training - 15

Learn and practice the key tasks of different roles in the department so they can fill in during peak times, or when needed. This will help ensure that all essential work continues smoothly, and our team can meet its responsibilities at all times.

Outreach - 10

  • Serve as a Financial Aid Office representative at student and parent events
  • Participate in campus visitation programs
  • Present financial aid information for various on campus and on campus events

Other - 5

  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Assists other team members during peak periods
  • Adapts to changing priorities and workplace needs
  • Participates in special projects as needed

Proposed Salary

This position is a pay grade 6. The minimum salary range is $35,441.00. Starting salary within this range is based on relevant years of experience.
