Leo is Amazon"s long-term initiative to design, launch and maintain a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are looking for an entrepreneurial minded Finance Manager to work in a start-up environment who is passionate about technology, is interested in analyzing transformative business opportunities at global scale, who thinks/acts globally, and has the ability to create, implement, and drive solutions to complex business questions.

Amazon Leo seeks a Finance Manager to support the Direct-to-Device (DTD) constellation business. Leo"s DTD service will connect billions of devices globally through satellite-based connectivity, partnering with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to deliver ubiquitous coverage where terrestrial networks cannot reach. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial by nature, a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities, analytical in approach, and have a demonstrated ability to develop and own financial models that provide intelligence for multi-billion-dollar investment decisions. This role requires a self-starter with superb business modeling skills, the ability to influence senior leadership, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage ambiguity in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Key job responsibilities

Own, design, develop, and maintain long-range financial models to project and evaluate DTD business performance across constellation generations, including revenue forecasting, ARPU modeling, and capacity-driven economics

Perform strategic financial analysis of go-to-market strategies including MNO partnership evaluation, spectrum acquisition economics, pricing strategy, and market entry prioritization

Build and own P&L models for the DTD business, develop business insights and KPI dashboards, and drive ad hoc analyses that inform investment decisions at the VP+ and S-Team level

Develop financial frameworks to evaluate constellation capacity allocation, beam optimization trade-offs, and satellite manufacturing/launch economics as they pertain to DTD service delivery

Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business Development to translate technical assumptions (satellite capacity, spectrum bandwidth, device penetration) into financial impact and business cases

Create and implement revenue and cost models incorporating MNO revenue share structures, spectrum costs, and device ecosystem scaling to be presented in business reviews

Educate and influence business partners on financial and operational trade-offs, exercising sound judgement in highly ambiguous situations with limited or rapidly evolving data

Assist in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls for a nascent and rapidly scaling business

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
