Finance Director - Quillen College of Medicine

As the Finance Director, you will provide leadership and oversight for the financial operations of the College, partnering with senior administrators to develop budgets, analyze financial performance, ensure compliance, and support sound fiscal decision-making. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis in higher education or academic medicine.
  • Knowledge of applicable university, state, and federal regulations, governing board requirements, and accreditation standards (e.g., LCME, AAMC, ACGME)
  • Knowledge of grant and research administration, internal controls, auditing standards, and financial compliance practices.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, financial modeling, resource allocation, and clinical finance operations.
  • Skill in advanced financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and use of financial systems and data tools.
  • Skill in leadership, staff supervision, mentoring, and team development.
  • Skill in strategic planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and project management.
  • Skill in effective communication and presentation of complex financial information.
  • Skill in collaboration and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage complex operations and implement long-range financial strategies.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and institutional requirements.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make sound, data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, regulations, and contracts.
  • Ability to oversee audits, internal controls, and financial processes.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Ability to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive financial management experience.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification, such as CPA or CMA
  • Experience in academic medicine, higher education, or healthcare finance.
  • Experience with grant and research financial management.
