Primary Function: To maintain daily maintenance activities by managing the maintenance group personnel and plant equipment with the utmost safety and efficiency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for daily day and night maintenance personnel work planning. Work planning including tools, materials and safety aspects of the job. The supervisor is required to give instructions to the maintenance staff and follow-up daily on work planned.
  • The use of INFOR (computer maintenance management system) is required for generating all work orders for work planning, generation of preventive maintenance tasks and closing of work orders. She/he is responsible to ensure correct work order data entry (correct work order type, class, assignment of correct equipment record, labor and parts) before closing the work order to history.
  • Responsible for the performance of maintenance personnel to include technician safety, work ethics and maintaining attendance records. Take appropriate corrective action if needed. Supervisor is required to write yearly performance reviews.
  • Supervisor is required to plan maintenance shutdown schedules for minor and major shutdowns for their areas of responsibility and forward them to the Maintenance Manager/Director.
  • Supervisor will need to be capable of using Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Project.
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate level of spare parts and creating requisitions.
  • Discuss with vendors or contractors about any parts issues or work to be performed to include scheduling and planning work to be performed by them.
  • Daily contact with Production, Technical and Engineering groups regarding daily work planning and problem troubleshooting.
  • Due to the nature of his/her responsibilities, the supervisor is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. She/he is expected to answer calls after work hours from production and night maintenance.
  • Responsible to reduce cost by means of controlling overtime, outside labor, equipment performance, efficiency of work being performed and spare parts usage.
  • Due to being responsible for personnel and equipment that potentially come in contact with energy sources and hazardous materials on a daily basis, supervisors are required to be CPR and Incident Command trained so as situations arise, they can take control of the situation as they are the most knowledgeable person on their equipment.
  • Responsible for the safety of his/her personnel. Required to write safety, work and preventive maintenance procedures, required to write energy control procedures to ensure the safety of personnel.
  • Supervise staff and participate in safety programs such as; STOP, DESC, Safety Hazard Photo Awareness activities, 5S and See Something Say Something.

Education & Experience Required:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Supervisor is required to have experience and technical background on the mechanical and/or electrical operations of manufacturing equipment.
  • Preferable to have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, technical degree, or business degree.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
