POSITION: Field Worker
   
REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 3 months experience harvesting potatoes. Written verification of experience is required. Workers must be able to crouch, bend, reach, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds in the course of performing required duties. Workers must be able to listen, understand, and follow instructions of company supervisors and managers for training and safety purposes. Must have the ability to communicate in English or Spanish. Workers will be exposed to extreme temperatures and must be able to physically perform the work tasks as well as be capable of extensive pushing or pulling, sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over and repetitive movements. Worker must also be able to pass a random, post-hire drug test, paid by the Employer. 
 
JOB DESCRIPTION: All job duties are closely and directly related to the production of Potatoes. Any combination of the following tasks will be performed in the fields, under the direction of the First-Line Supervisor/Foreman assigned to each crew and in compliance with all local regulations to include: 
- Field Workers: Potato Harvest; Sorting; Raking; Shoveling; Sweeping; Dumping; Removing debris; Transplant; Shed Labor/Packing Facility (preparing freshly harvested crops for shipment in their original, unmanufactured state on the farm); Stacking & Packing; Sanitation & Product Sampling.
- General Farm Labor/Ranch Maintenance
- Field Safety/Food Safety/Sanitation activities
- Potato Harvest: Works on top of a harvesting machine; Checks and determines quality of product by selecting and removing product that does not meet the required packing standard; Removes dirt and other objects. 
- Field Cleaning: Walk in uneven furrows; Look for potato plants that do not meet the standard; When identified, manually remove the potato plant; Put plant inside a bag to dispose of it.
- Weeding: Look for weeds around crops and in between product seed lines and use a hoe to weed out unwanted product and weeds; Cleans the lot for any unwanted weed on beds and seed lines and takes it out of the field.
- Thinning: Look for the specified gap between seeds, and using a hoe, thins out any excess crop/seeds and/or weed on the seed line and leaves the desired product and gap on the field; Clean the lot for any unwanted weed on the beds and seed lines and takes it out of the field.  
- Agricultural Equipment Operators: Operate agricultural equipment including tractors, forklifts and harvest machines; Rinsing and inspecting equipment before, during and after shift; Operating equipment during harvest or other farming activities; Opening and closing the machine and taking extensions in and out; Driving machines onto transporting dolly or trailers to be moved to other fields; Manipulate knob, levers, and wheels at operation station to manage speed, direction, and function of the equipment; Fills water solution from storage tanks to tractor tanks for operation in the field; Transports trailers from fields to yards and tarps loads. 
- Spud Truck Operators: Perform secondary agriculture functions at the potato storage sites; perform on the farm spud truck operating to/from storage sites and from farm to silo; Loads/unloads harvested product at the storage site. Workers will never drive on public roads (but may cross them) during the work shift.
- Crew Lead/Row Boss: Monitors the work of other farm workers by assisting with checking crew's quality of work and product's quality; Helps coordinate daily production and work. This is a nonsupervisory position and the Crew Lead does not devel p or implement training or supervise health and safety compliance.   
ANTICIPATED HOURS OF WORK PER WEEK: Thirty-Five (35) hours per week. Monday through Friday (Seven (7) hours per day) 6:00AM to 1:30PM.    
*Workers may be requested to work on Saturdays, Sundays or Federal Holidays, depending on the conditions of the fields, weather, and maturity of the crop.  
ANTICIPATED PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: September 3, 2025 to October 4, 2025.   
*This is regular full-time work for a temporary period of time, requiring the Worker to be available for work on a daily basis. This is not "day work" and excessive tardiness and/or absences will not be tolerated and will result in disciplinary action according to company policies.

JOB LOCATION: Various fields in and around Alamosa, Saguache and Rio Grande Counties, Colorado and will consist of one area of intended employment. All locations are owned or operated by Consaul Ag, LLC which is primarily located in Center, Saguache County, Colorado. 
PAY: $17.84 per hour, paid weekly, plus room and board. Housing to be provided for Workers only, who are recruited from beyond normal commuting distances and are unable to return to their normal place of residence on a daily basis. Employer provides housing and daily transportation to/from work-site for Employees only. Housing located in Center, Rio Grande County, Colorado.  
*Effective 1/1/25, overtime must be paid after 48 hours worked per week, or 56 hours worked per week for up to 22 "peak weeks" for highly seasonal employers. *
