Piper Companies is seeking a Field Training and Support Engineer to support a leading provider of advanced counter-UAS (C-UAS) solutions. This position is onsite in McLean, VA and supports mission-critical national security and public safety operations. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical expert, delivering training, troubleshooting complex systems, and supporting field deployments across the U.S.
Responsibilities for the Field Training and Support Engineer include:
- Deliver in-person and virtual technical training sessions for customers and service partners
- Develop training materials, user guides, and best-practice documentation
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers, field teams, and engineering
- Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2 escalated issues across hardware, software, and RF systems
- Evaluate, train, and manage third-party service providers to ensure high-quality support delivery
- Support field operations including site surveys, system installations, testing, and optimization
- Assist in development of Statements of Work (SOWs) and operational procedures
Required Qualifications for the Field Training and Support Engineer include:
- 5-7 years of experience in Field Engineering, Technical Training, Professional Services, or similar role
- Demonstrated expertise in RF systems and counter-UAS technologies
- Experience supporting hardware/software integration and troubleshooting complex technical issues
- Proven ability to manage third-party vendors or service partners
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (preferred)
- FAA Part 107 certification (highly desirable)
- Ability to travel 30% and support occasional nights/weekends; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
