Summary
The Municipal Services & Operations MSO Field Technician Specialist - Wastewater Maintenance is responsible for maintaining process equipment at the City of Lawrences wastewater treatment plants, ensuring the proper operation of these facilities. They assess equipment performance for asset management, assist with projects, and oversee contractors at treatment plants, water towers, and pump stations for the city.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for ensuring the process equipment continues to operate as intended. The MSO Field Technician Specialist performs:
• Preventive maintenance • Analyzes and troubleshoots equipment • Recommends improvements and repairs for process and conveyance systems • Acts as a first responder for troubleshooting equipment and reviewing plans for new and upgraded systems • Troubleshoots electrical systems ranging from 110 to 480 volts • Repairs HVAC systems • Operates heavy equipment and vehicles • Maintains the building and grounds
This position requires availability for emergency after-hours response.
Qualifications
Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented with training in chemistry, biology, maintenance, electrical, mechanical, process automation, treatment operations, engineering technology, or related fields. At least two years of technical or scientific experience is preferred, and/or a minimum of one year of experience directly related to the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plants.
Must have a current ABC Class III Maintenance certification or the ability to obtain it within one year. Must possess a valid Kansas drivers license and a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL. The successful candidate must pass a background check, post-offer city physical, and drug screening.
