Basic Functions
Must be at least 18 years old. This is a skilled position assisting in the maintenance of District owned utilities, irrigation, facilities and vehicles.
Nature of Work
Perform routine maintenance work on District roads, water systems, or other District facilities and buildings as may be directed by the Manager or Foreman. The work may also include brush and garbage pick-up.
Examples of Work
Road repair, water line repairs, lawn mowing and trimming, equipment maintenance, fabricating and repair broken parts, ditch repairs, minor building repairs operating machinery and mechanical equipment, complete preventive maintenance requirements on gas and diesel engines.
Work Schedule
During irrigation season 4/10’s (Friday-Monday) 10 hour 6am-5pm at hourly wage & On-Call after hours 5pm-6am (paid at 20% of hourly wage). Off irrigation season (Monday-Thursday) 10 hr. workdays 6am-5pm.
Controls Over the Work
Works under the supervisory control and guidance of the Manager and Foreman. Assignments are received in the form of oral instruction or work orders and rough notes. Work is reviewed for quality and timeliness of completed projects.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is performed primarily out-of-doors involving moderate risks, discomfort, or unpleasantness such as a high level of noise; dust, grease and mud; moving vehicles and machines; cold and/or hot weather. Normal safety precautions are required; and the employee may wear some protective clothing and equipment such as rain and snow gear, boots, goggles, and gloves. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven surfaces; and recurring bending, crouching, stooping and reaching; and occasional lifting of moderately heavy items. Work requires above average physical agility and dexterity.
