Field Technician

Summary:

• Location: Fairmont, WV
• Duration: 2 Years

Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections of steel structure foundations and repairs.
• Perform substation foundation and repair inspections.
• Oversee wood pole treatment and testing methods.
• Supervise steel structure coating crews.
• Evaluate transmission structures to assess the health of electrical circuits.
• Assess storm damage and support emergency restoration crews.

Requirements:

• 5 years of active field experience.
• Proficiency in computer skills for completing daily and weekly reports.
• Capability in photo documentation with knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Valid driver's license and US citizenship.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to create detailed reports.
• Must be able to wear company-provided PPE for the entire shift while onsite.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs at any given time throughout the day.
• Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per day across rough terrain and/or uneven surfaces.

Preferred Skills:

• 7 years of knowledge in transmission line work, foundations, and stringing of conductors.
• Experience with transmission substations and facilities.
• Knowledge of QA/QC inspections and reporting practices.
• Familiarity with various electronics used to create reports.
• Proficient in both verbal and written communication.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional overtime may be required.
• Willingness to travel in OH, PA, Virginia, WV, Jersey, Maryland based on current location.
• Ability to drive to job location as part of the workday.
