Field Service Technician – Truss Systems & Repairs (In-Office/Field Based)
84 Lumber is the nation’s largest privately held supplier of building materials, and we’re growing! Our Components Division is looking for a hands-on, driven Field Service Technician to support truss installation, customer needs, and on-site repairs.

Represent 84 Components in the field, supporting customers and job sites
Inspect roof and floor truss installations for accuracy and quality
Perform small repairs and adjustments on-site as needed
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to truss placement and performance
Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and internal teams
Provide technical support and recommendations in real-time
Ensure all work aligns with company standards, safety guidelines, and best practices
Assist with documentation and reporting of field visits and findings
Experience in construction, framing, truss building, or carpentry preferred
Ability to read and understand blueprints and structural layouts
Comfortable using tools and performing hands-on repairs in the field
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Self-motivated and able to work independently on job sites
Willingness to travel locally to job sites as needed

Responsibilities:
Builds and maintains a network of sources from which to identify new sales leads.
Communicates with customers and leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; identifies and suggests products and services to meet those needs.
Demonstrates the functions and utility of products or services to customers based on their needs.
Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale.
Maintains communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest.
Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
Qualifications:Create and continually grow book of business and acquire new customers.
Create material estimates/read blueprints.
Source special order material.
Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to function in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Provide layouts and truss drawings.
