Location: Bay Area / Central Valley (Field-Based)
Pay: $45.00 $65.00 per hour (DOE)

Schedule: Day Shift + Rotating On-Call
Job Summary
Protech Staffing is seeking highly skilled Field Service Technicians to support maintenance and repair of large-scale backup power systems for datacenters and critical infrastructure. This role focuses on high-output generator systems ranging from 100kW to 3.5MW.
Technicians will work in high-stakes environments where uptime is critical. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise in diesel engines, electrical systems, and controls, along with strict adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on industrial generators (100kW 3.5MW) and related systems
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues including PLCs and instrumentation
- Conduct load bank testing and full system functionality testing
- Follow strict MOP (Method of Procedure) and SOP protocols in datacenter environments
- Maintain detailed service reports, calibration records, and system documentation
- Communicate technical findings clearly with clients, engineers, and internal teams
- Respond to emergency service calls as part of a rotating on-call schedule
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and site-specific requirements
Required Qualifications
- Experience servicing industrial power generation equipment or similar heavy equipment
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and control wiring
- Experience with large-scale generators (2MW+ preferred)
- Familiarity with switchgear, paralleling systems, and high-voltage configurations is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and procedures
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Professional communication skills and ability to work in high-security environments
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel throughout the region
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly (up to 100 lbs occasionally)
Work Environment
- Field-based role supporting datacenters and industrial facilities
- Service area within ~90-mile radius of Tracy, CA
- Occasional travel to Monterey, CA and Reno, NV for training and support
- On-call rotation required for emergency response
