Job Summary

The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing field service activities at customer sites safely, efficiently, and professionally. This role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical, electrical, diesel, and other specialized equipment depending on the business unit. The technician will perform preventative maintenance, manage parts inventory, identify and resolve equipment and safety issues, and provide exceptional customer support. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently in a variety of field environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment for employees, customers, and contractors.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventative maintenance on customer and company-owned equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel-related issues as applicable.
  • Manage and maintain parts inventory and service documentation.
  • Identify, communicate, and address safety concerns at customer sites.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service while serving as a primary point of contact in the field.
  • Complete service reports and required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Demonstrate accountability, innovation, and ownership in daily work activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining the ability to work independently.
  • Support multiple customer locations and technologies as required.

Travel Requirements

  • Overnight travel and extended time away from home may be required.

Driving Requirements

Candidates must meet and maintain company driving requirements, including:

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review.
  • Ability to complete all required driver qualification documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card, if required.

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to obtain customer-specific clearances (TWIC, DISA, or similar)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.

Experience

  • 0-2 years of technical, mechanical, electrical, diesel, or related field service experience preferred.
  • Prior customer-facing experience preferred.
  • Experience operating independently in a field environment is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Mechanical, electrical, diesel, fusion, or related technical knowledge depending on business unit requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile technology devices.
  • Ability to analyze technical information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop effective solutions in dynamic environments.
