Description:

Job Title: Field Service Technician
Location: Katy, TX
Job Type: Hourly Consultant
Hours: M-F, 8am - 5pm
Pay: $25.00/hour

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide onsite technical support for customer devices within a large facility environment.
  • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment in accordance with customer specifications and service requirements.
  • Perform delivery and installation of printer supplies, equipment maintenance, and hardware repairs.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to printers, imaging products, and accessories.
  • Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements.
  • Act as the onsite customer representative, ensuring high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage dispatched service and supply requests while meeting established Service Level Agreement (SLA) commitments.
  • Accurately diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to manufacturer specifications, including electrical, mechanical, and print quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding call acceptance, estimated arrival times, service status, and resolution.
  • Provide customer training on equipment usage, features, and best practices.
  • Complete required service documentation, including call updates, closures, parts tracking, inventory reporting, and service records.
  • Maintain local parts inventory and ensure accurate tracking of inventory levels and transactions.
  • Provide meter reads and other required device information as needed.
  • Support implementation and deployment activities for print technology and managed services projects.
  • Conduct printer assessments and assist with fleet optimization efforts.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • May be required to support standby hours as needed.

Skills:

  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting printers, hard copy devices, imaging products, and related technologies.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and technical issues independently.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple service requests while meeting SLA requirements.
  • Knowledge of equipment installation, maintenance, and repair procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate documentation practices.

Experience:

  • 2 - 5 years of experience servicing printers, hard copy devices, imaging products, or similar technical equipment preferred.
  • Experience providing onsite technical support in a customer-facing environment preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment required.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certifications or additional training in electronics, hardware repair, or related fields preferred.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
