Mobile Heavy Equipment 91 H Tracked Vehicle Mechanic (M88A2 Platform)
Location: Fort Hood, TX  openings available full travel with per diem)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract | Hours: 40 hrs/week (field-based support)
Pay Range: $30.96 per hour (based on experience)
 


About the Role

Join a high-impact field support team with Contract Professionals delivering maintenance expertise on the U.S. Army’s M88A2 recovery vehicle platform. As a Tracked Vehicle Mechanic, you will work directly alongside Soldiers to diagnose, repair, and maintain mission-critical equipment, ensuring operational readiness in both garrison and field environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field-level maintenance and repairs on M88A2 tracked recovery vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues using Army Technical Manuals.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with customer and military standards.
  • Partner with Soldiers to provide hands-on technical guidance and maintenance support.
  • Support Maintenance Assistance Team (MAT) operations across assigned locations.
  • Document maintenance actions and provide clear technical feedback and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and contract requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 4–8 years of hands-on experience performing maintenance and troubleshooting on tracked military vehicles, specifically the M88 platform.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Army maintenance procedures and technical manuals.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems in field environments.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work closely with military personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic field conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of U.S. Army Recovery School (highly desired).
  • Prior experience supporting Maintenance Assistance Teams (MAT).
  • Experience working directly with active-duty Army units.

  • Initial work locations include Fort Hood, TX and Fort Bliss, TX.
