Field Sales Specialist – Connector Industry

Position Summary

The Field Sales Specialist is responsible for driving revenue growth by promoting and selling electronic connector and interconnect solutions to OEMs, integrators, awwwnd distribution partners within an assigned territory. The role combines technical application support with strategic account development to identify new opportunities in markets such as industrial automation, robotics, transportation, energy, and electronics manufacturing.

 

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities for connector and interconnect solutions.
  • Manage and grow relationships with OEMs, contract manufacturers, and system integrators.
  • Achieve or exceed territory sales targets and growth objectives.
  • Develop account strategies to penetrate key applications such as automation, robotics, sensors, servo motors, and industrial networking.
  • Prospect for new customers in targeted vertical markets.

Technical Sales Support

  • Provide technical guidance on connector selection including D-Sub, M8, M12, circular, hybrid, power, and high-speed data I/O connectors.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to recommend appropriate interconnect solutions based on electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements.
  • Support design-in opportunities during early product development stages.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations.

Account & Channel Management

  • Manage relationships with authorized distributors and channel partners.
  • Train distributor sales teams on connector product lines and applications.
  • Coordinate demand creation activities and joint sales calls.
  • Monitor distributor inventory, forecasting, and pipeline development.

Market Intelligence

  • Track competitive products and pricing within the interconnect market.
  • Identify emerging applications such as:
    • Industrial automation
    • Robotics
    • Autonomous systems
    • Data centers
    • EV and transportation
  • Provide market feedback to product management and marketing teams.

Customer Support

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive technical and commercial support.
  • Coordinate internally with engineering, operations, and customer service to resolve issues.
  • Support quotations, pricing negotiations, and contract discussions.

 

Qualifications

Experience

  • 3–7+ years of experience in technical sales within the connector, cable assembly, or electronic components industry.
  • Experience selling through distribution and direct OEM accounts.
  • Knowledge of industrial connectivity standards (Ethernet, fieldbus, power connectors).

Technical Knowledge

Familiarity with:

  • Circular connectors (M8, M12, M23)
  • D-Sub connectors and Hoods
  • Industrial Ethernet connectivity
  • High-speed data connectors
  • Power connectors
  • Cable assemblies
  • Environmental ratings (IP67, IP68)
  • EMI/EMC considerations
