Job Description and Duties
Have you imagined yourself in a role where you can serve the people of California through education, regulation and enforcement actions regarding the manufacture, sale, ownership, safety training, and transfer of firearms and dangerous weapons? Does a role that includes conducting statewide training and providing information to licensed firearm dealers interest you? If so, we hope you consider applying for a Field Representative position within our Bureau of Firearms.
Among other things, a Field Representative in our Regulatory Compliance Unit will perform the following tasks:
Candidates interested in taking on this challenge should have:
A willingness to travel via airplane and/or automobile for up to two weeks per month and occasionally work odd shifts such as evenings, weekends, and nights.

Working Conditions
DOJ has adopted telework for employees who can effectively perform their essential work functions remotely. After an initial training period, this position may allow for some telework opportunities. All telework schedules are based on current conditions and may be reevaluated as conditions change.
An alternate work week schedule of 4-10-40 may be considered.

Statement of Qualifications
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. To be considered for this position, applicants must submit an SOQ along with their application. The SOQ serves as documentation of each applicant's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. SOQs must be no more than Two (2) pages in length, and typed using no less than 12 point Arial font. The SOQ response must address the following questions, in the order listed below:
When completing the SOQ, do not provide a single, narrative response. Each question above must be addressed one at a time (i.e., first provide a complete and independent response to Question #1, then a complete and independent response to Question #2, etc.) for consideration. Additionally, each response must be numbered and include the full text of the question being answered prior to each individual response to clearly indicate which question you are responding to.
Write your responses carefully. Initial evaluation of each applicant will be based on the content of the answers and written communication skills demonstrated on their submitted SOQ.
