Duties

Conducts interviews primarily in person (door to door) and when requested may conduct phone interviews to collect survey or census data as required within an assigned geographic area. Communicates with respondents, supervisors, and other persons as appropriate. Understands survey materials in order to explain the purpose of surveys, ask questions as worded on the questionnaire or survey instrument, and enters accurate and complete information into a laptop computer or onto survey forms. Maintains personal payroll records that reflect hours worked, miles driven, and reimbursements for travel and communications claimed. Completes and attends training as necessary in-person or online.

You must be 18 years old. You must be a U.S. Citizen. You must have good hearing and the ability to read small print found on surveys. You must be in good physical condition to drive, climb stairs, and walk for extended periods. You will occasionally be required to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. You must be willing to work days, evenings, and weekends. You must be willing to work a varying number of hours per week. You must be willing to occasionally travel overnight for training and work assignments. You must have access to a vehicle (or public transportation) so that you can complete work throughout the assigned geographic area. You must establish and maintain a safe work environment in your residence. You must be willing to use all methods of communication (face to face, phone call, emails, letter, etc.). You must have access to a landline or mobile phone. You must have an internet connection at your residence. If internet is not available in your area, must be able to connect to a cellular network. You must be suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation. You must be registered for Selective Service at the time of hire, if applicable, (www.sss.gov). You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. A one or two-year trial period is required (dependent upon veterans status). This is a NON-BARGAINING unit position.

Applicants must have one year of general experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to GS-03 in the Federal service. General experience is being progressively responsible in clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

OR

2 years of education above high school. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

CTAP applicants MUST submit the following documents:

A copy of your RIF separation notice; notice of proposed removal for declining a directed geographic relocation outside of the local commuting area; a Certificate of Expected Separation (CES); or certification that you are in a surplus organization or occupation (this could be a position abolishment letter, a notice of eligibility for discontinued service retirement, or similar notice). A copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action" noting current position, grade/band level, and duty location; A copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and Any documentation from your bureau/operating unit that shows your current promotion potential.

ICTAP applicants MUST submit the following documents:

A copy of your RIF separation notice; notice of proposed removal for declining a directed geographic relocation outside of the local commuting area; notice of disability annuity termination; certification from your former agency that it cannot place you after your recovery from a work-related compensable injury; or certification from the National Guard Bureau or Military Department that you are eligible for disability retirement. A copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action", documenting your RIF separation, noting your position, grade/band level, and duty location, and/or Agency certification of inability to place you through RPL, etc.; A copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and Any documentation from your agency that shows your current promotion potential.
