Field Service / Repair Technician

This role is ideal for a mechanically skilled, customer-focused professional who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and delivering high-quality service in the field and shop environments.
As a Field Service/Repair Technician, you will serve as a trusted technical resource for customers by evaluating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning pump systems and related equipment. You will represent Hayes Group on-site and play a key role in delivering exceptional service and building long-term customer relationships.
Hayes Group provides a company vehicle and specialty application tools to support field work. Technicians provide their own daily-use hand tools.
Essential Responsibilities
- Represent Hayes Group professionally and provide exceptional customer service.
- Travel daily to customer locations to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair pumps and related systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service work at customer sites.
- Support equipment start-ups, commissioning activities, and operational programming.
- Evaluate pump equipment in the shop and prepare repair recommendations and estimates.
- Complete repairs and rebuilds in the shop environment as needed.
- Accurately document work performed and complete service reports using company systems and CRM tools.
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in rotating on-call and after-hours service support.
- Perform all work in accordance with company safety standards and OSHA requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school education preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience interacting directly with customers in a professional environment.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Basic computer skills including email, reporting systems, and internet use.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined or industrial environments.
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety practices (OSHA 10 preferred).
Preferred
- Five or more years of field service or repair experience with commercial or municipal pump systems.
- Experience servicing centrifugal and positive displacement pumps including rotary lobe, progressive cavity, diaphragm, and metering pumps.
- Experience with manufacturers such as Goulds, Xylem, Gorman-Rupp, Fairbanks Morse, Grundfos, Viking, and Aurora.
- Knowledge of electrical controls and wiring.
- Ability to travel overnight as needed.
