Position Summary
Ensure compliance with Consumer Health Protection Ordinances as they apply to Environmental Health operations, Smoking Ordinances, Noise Ordinances, Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Air Quality Control Board Regulations and constituency complaints for Environmental Health Department (EHD); perform a variety of enforcement functions according to assigned areas of responsibility within the department.

When assigned to Consumer Health Protection:
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, natural or environmental science, law or engineering; and
Five (5) years experience in code enforcement, code compliance, environmental compliance and conducting inspections related to enforcing and investigating Federal, State, County and City Ordinances; and
To include two (2) years supervisory experience.
May be required to work flexible schedules, including late nights and weekends as needed.
May report to a variety of remote or isolated sites as needed.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
When assigned to the Air Quality Program:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
When assigned to Consumer Health Protection Division:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of Certified Professional - Food Safety (CPFS) Credential or Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian Credential preferred or ability to obtain within two (2) years from date of hire.
Possession of National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or Certified Pool & Spa Inspector (CPI) credential or ability to obtain within six months (6 mos.) from date of hire.
When assigned to the Cannabis Services Division:
Possession of a valid Drivers License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Ability to wear a respirator while conducting inspections for extended time periods
Working Conditions
Environmental:
Field and laboratory environment; travel from site to site; may be exposed to potential hazardous chemicals; exposure to computer screens. .
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods of time. May work in the field while wearing a respirator with associated personal protection equipment.
