Field Literacy Consultants

Department: Professional Learning Services

Reports To: Manager, Professional Learning Services

FLSA Status: Independent Contractor (1099)

Position Summary:

The Field Education Consultant (FEC) serves as a key link between Zaner-Bloser and educators implementing

Zaner-Bloser literacy and/or math programs. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality implementation

training and providing ongoing instructional support to teachers, coaches, and administrators. The FEC ensures

successful program adoption, supports effective instructional practices, and fosters strong, collaborative

relationships with school and district partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Implementation & Training

  • Deliver in-person and/or virtual implementation training to new program users
  • Facilitate engaging professional learning sessions for teachers, coaches, and administrators
  • Model effective instructional practices aligned to Zaner-Bloser programs
  • Tailor training to meet district goals, timelines, and educator needs
  • Present Zaner-Bloser program overviews to school and district stakeholders

Instructional Support & Coaching

  • Provide ongoing instructional support to classroom teachers
  • Conduct school visits to support implementation, as needed
  • Provide follow-up support via phone and email
  • Assist educators in addressing implementation challenges and refining instructional practices

Partnership & Relationship Building

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with teachers, administrators, and district leaders
  • Serve as a professional representative of Zaner-Bloser in all customer interactions
  • Support customer satisfaction and long-term program success

Sales & Field Support

  • Provide sales support, as needed, by sharing program expertise
  • Participate in customer meetings and conversations when appropriate
  • Attend conferences and exhibit Zaner-Bloser products

Preparation, Communication & Reporting

  • Prepare for all engagements by reviewing program materials and customer goals
  • Complete and submit required reporting forms following trainings and school visits
  • Provide periodic updates on customer progress and implementation status
  • Submit invoices and expense reports accurately and in a timely manner

What you should show up ready to teach anyone on your first day:

  • Core instructional components and design of Zaner-Bloser literacy and/or math programs
  • Best-practice strategies for program implementation in classroom settings
  • Effective professional learning facilitation techniques for adult learners

Within your first month, you'll:

  • Successfully deliver implementation training sessions with fidelity
  • Build relationships with assigned schools or districts
  • Demonstrate effective communication and follow-up with customers and internal teams

Within your first year, you'll:

  • Support successful program implementation across assigned engagements
  • Build strong, trusted partnerships with educators and administrators
  • Consistently deliver high-quality training and support resulting in strong customer feedback

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience
  • Instructional coaching or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience delivering professional development to adult learners

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in literacy and/or math instruction aligned to evidence-based practices
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience using virtual meeting and training platforms
  • Willingness and ability to travel for on-site training and support
  • Familiarity with Zaner-Bloser programs preferred (e.g., Superkids, Spelling Connections, Kickstart

Math, Building Fact Fluency)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and present for extended periods of time
  • Ability to travel, including transporting training materials as needed
