About Us We are a fast-growing orthopedic medical device company focused on delivering innovative implant and surgical solutions that improve mobility and patient outcomes. As we scale, we’re building the systems and infrastructure to support surgeons and hospitals—and field inventory is mission-critical to that success.
Role Overview
We’re seeking a highly organized, hands-on Field Inventory Manager to build and lead our field inventory operations. In orthopedics, timing and accuracy are everything—this role ensures implants and instrument sets are where they need to be, when they need to be there.
You’ll work closely with sales reps, clinical specialists, and hospital staff to support surgical cases, manage complex inventory, and create scalable processes in a fast-paced startup environment.
What You’ll Do
Own and manage all field inventory, including orthopedic implants, trays, and instrument sets across assigned territories
Support surgical case readiness by ensuring the right sizes, SKUs, and sterile sets are available for scheduled procedures
Build and implement inventory tracking systems and processes (e.g., NetSuite, SAP Business One)
Manage consignment inventory at hospitals and trunk stock with field reps
Track lot/serial numbers, expiration dates, and sterilization cycles for implants and instruments
Coordinate loaner kit logistics, including shipping, returns, and reprocessing timelines
Conduct cycle counts and on-site audits in hospitals and with field teams; resolve discrepancies quickly
Partner with sales and clinical teams to forecast demand based on surgeon preferences and case volume
Develop scalable SOPs for inventory control, replenishment, and reverse logistics
Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards (e.g., U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements, traceability standards)
Analyze inventory utilization (set turns, case usage, fill rates) to optimize asset deployment and reduce waste
Train field teams on inventory handling, accountability, and system usage
What We’re Looking For
4+ years of experience in inventory, operations, or supply chain within orthopedic or surgical medical devices
Strong understanding of implant and instrument set management, including consignment models
Experience supporting surgical cases or working closely with field sales/clinical teams
Ability to build and scale processes in a startup or high-growth environment
Familiarity with ERP/inventory systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP Business One, or similar)
High attention to detail, especially with lot/serial tracking and compliance requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (Excel proficiency required)
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Willingness to travel frequently (50–75%) and be present in hospitals as needed
Nice to Have
Experience with joint reconstruction, trauma, spine, or sports medicine products
Knowledge of sterile processing workflows and OR protocols
Experience managing loaner instrumentation and set rotation logistics
Background in regulated environments and quality systems
