ResponsibilitiesProgram OverviewThis program supports the modernization of FAA facilities and air traffic control systems nationwide. Due to the scope and continued expansion of the effort, there is a strong demand for professional field-based engineers to provide engineering leadership for on-site assessments, system integration planning, and implementation of complex air traffic control systems at operational facilities, including TRACONs, terminals, and laboratory environments.Position SummaryThe field implementation engineer supports the program by conducting on-site assessments of air traffic control systems. This role is responsible for inspecting, inventorying, and documenting hardware, software versions, and system interconnections at operational facilities. The focus is on understanding existing equipment, how it is interconnected, and whether it complies with established connection and power standards. The field implementation engineers would be overseeing installations & configurations that were conducted to ensure it is in line with FAA requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform on-site inspections of air traffic control (ATC) systems and supporting infrastructureOversee and ensure quality assurance of system installations, replacements, configurations, and upgradesIntegrate hardware and software components into the operational system architectureConfigure system parameters in accordance with engineering specifications and operational requirementsExecute system bring-up, checkout, activation, and cutover activities to transition systems into operational useConduct system integration testing and support site acceptance testingTroubleshoot system-level issues across hardware, software, network, power, and interface domainsVerify system compliance with operational, safety, performance, connectivity, and power requirements (e.g., 110-volt grounded circuits)Validate connectivity, configuration, and operational status of new and existing equipmentInventory and document hardware assets, software versions, system interconnections, physical layouts, and cablingIdentify and resolve discrepancies between installed systems and engineering or program documentationDevelop, maintain, and update installation, configuration, test, and integration documentationCoordinate with operations, engineering, integration, and program teams to resolve issues and support reporting requirementsRequired QualificationsExperience supporting FAA, NAS, air traffic control, radar, or aviation-related systemsExperience working around live operational systems, including radar or safety-critical infrastructureKnowledge of systems engineering methodologies and system integration best practicesExperience leading or providing engineering oversight for site assessments, installations, or system cutoversFamiliarity with networking, power, grounding, and infrastructure standards in mission-critical environmentsExperience supporting system integration testing, site acceptance testing, or operational readiness activitiesAbility to provide technical leadership and guidance to field teams and integration personnelActive or eligible security clearance, if required by program or contractBasic QualificationsExperience working with hardware, cabling, and networking equipment in field environmentsExperience inspecting, inventorying, and documenting technical equipmentAbility to verify power, grounding, and physical connectivity requirementsFamiliarity with data center–style or operational facility environmentsStrong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentationExperience with hardware and software system configurationAbility to perform system checkout, troubleshooting, and validation activitiesUnderstanding of system integration concepts, interfaces, and dependenciesAbility to follow and implement engineering specifications and proceduresWillingness and ability to travel to operational sites (50-75% Travel)Educational and Experience RequirementsAny Substitutions are subject to further government approvals.Senior-levelMinimum of 15 years' experience with bachelor's degree in any engineering field.Substitution: Associate and an additional 6 years or experience or Highschool and an additional 9 years of experience.Master's degree in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience.PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.Compensation Ranges: $115,500 - $218,475Mid-levelMinimum of 10 years' experience with bachelor's degree in any engineering field.Substitution: Associate and an additional 6 years or experience or Highschool and an additional 9 years of experience.Master's degree in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience.PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.Compensation Ranges: $95,500- $149,200Junior-levelMinimum of 2 years' experience with bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, to include but not limited to: system, aviation, aeronautical, aerospace, electrical, mechanical, environmental, computer (to include computer science), industrial, etc. is required.Substitute: A Bachelors Degree In any field and 5 years of experience.Substitution: Associate and an additional 6 years or experience or Highschool and an additional 9 years of experience.Master's degree in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience.Substitute: PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 7 years' experience.Compensation Ranges: $59,200 - The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked.
