Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified professional to provide technical engineering information to construction management and crafts, ensuring heavy civil construction work complies with engineered design, technical requirements, engineering standards, and codes. This role involves a variety of tasks to support the construction process.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret contracts, drawings, specifications, standards, and related technical documents to maintain the construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
  • Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, and interferences.
  • Prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules and updates, ensuring proper advance notifications and coordination of start times across discipline groups and agencies.
  • Manage the preparation of RFIs and related submittals.
  • Support planning and technical issues by preparing construction work plan packages and coordinating pre-construction meetings, ensuring all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.
  • Manage the effective utilization of technical expertise within the project management team.
  • Coordinate field engineering activities with the construction management team.
  • Monitor and participate daily in the field construction process, providing layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements.
  • Assist in preparing monthly reports for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution, providing accurate and factual assessments of project performance.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.
  • Field verify to ensure construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and contract.
  • Ensure as-built documents are updated as required by the contract.
  • Perform daily documentation, including pictures of work performed and conversations held.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive environment by enforcing procedures.
  • Maintain project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices.
  • Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during work planning.
  • Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 5 - 7 years of heavy civil construction experience.
  • Working knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment, standards, and procedures.
  • Experience with Utility/Underground/Concrete Structures Construction preferred.
  • Commitment to safety and quality, with knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Strong work ethic - Highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
