Job SummaryField Engineer II – Structured Cabling will be able to install and operate most types of low‑voltage/structured cabling systems and equipment.Job Duties and Responsibilitiestroubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems in a senior service support role; testing, troubleshooting of system components and functions and field verification of connections, labels, installation and work qualityunderstand advanced system drawings, specifications and technical manuals; create shop drawings and submittals for new project kick‑offmanage the technical work in the field with little supervisionwork both in house and in the field when requiredassume ownership of project installation and give support to field staff and project manager, including advanced support for field installation staffassist with maintaining and completing project punch‑list for project close outsoversee the technical aspects of projectsquality‑check projects, test all equipment and functionality and create punch listsassist sales staff as needed with product and system demonstrationsconduct detailed field walks for prospective or change order opportunities and provide comprehensive written scope narratives, system outlines, and constructability notes to assist Estimating in crafting accurate proposalsidentify and document existing conditions, infrastructure constraints, and access limitations during site assessments to inform bid strategies and value engineering optionsinterface with subcontractors during pre‑construction activities: set up and coordinate site walks, review scope alignment, and obtain written proposals or bids as requiredserve as a technical liaison between the field and Pre‑Construction/Estimating, helping bridge gaps in design intent, sequence of operations, and field feasibilitywhen workload allows, assist the Quality and Training department by developing or delivering structured guidance for Leads and Superintendents on project setup, documentation organization, and workflow planningsupport the development of best practices and job readiness materials to help new leaders understand expectations around job closeout, documentation control, and startup executionother responsibilities as assignedQualificationsself‑motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s)promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partnersproven problem‑solving skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to read, write and give oral presentationsdiagnose and fix problems with existing equipment and new installsenthusiastic, passionate, patient and a critical thinkerexcellent communication and customer service skillshigh skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting and quality requirementsable to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as neededHigh School diploma or GED equivalency; bachelor's degree preferred4‑6 years' commercial low voltage/structured cabling experienceproficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project)meet Company minimum driving standardsmanage multiple tasks/projects simultaneouslydemonstrated ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks and manage these to final completion and customer turnoverminimum years of experience: 4–6; minimum education: High SchoolSalary: Min USD $25.00/Hr.
