Job Title: Field Engineer

Job Description

The Field Engineer will be engaged in a large EPC construction project, overseeing all three phases: Engineering, Procurement, and Construction for substantial mega industrial power projects. The projects include building natural gas compression facilities or power generation projects, focusing on mechanical scopes such as turbines, motors, and engines, as well as bridge power projects for data centers incorporating turbines or reciprocating engines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Assist the Project Manager in managing smaller projects.
  • Understand the terms, conditions, and scope of the contract.
  • Track materials, production, and project costs for Project Manager review and approval.
  • Facilitate subcontractor activities.
  • Maintain the project schedule.
  • Conduct basic estimating, take-offs, and solicitation of quotes.
  • Provide onsite administrative support.
  • Assist with quality assurance and quality control, including test protocols.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience as a Field Engineer or similar role in Heavy Industrial or Power Plant projects.
  • Experience with document control, tracking, and organization of project documents.
  • Drawing revision and redlines management.
  • Experience overseeing subcontractors in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Process Piping disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to read prints and use project management software.
  • Engineering degree is preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to be away from home on a project site for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Work Environment

The work involves a mix of office and onsite environments. Initially, you"ll be based in the Houston, TX office for 1-1.5 years during the Engineering and Procurement phases, then onsite anywhere in the U.S. for 1 year during Construction. The projects cover heavy mechanical and Instrumentation & Electrical scopes. The typical workweek is 40-50 hours in the office, and 60 hours onsite, with a strong training program and opportunities for career advancement. The company offers a truck allowance, cell phone allowance, and equipment like a laptop. Vacation and holiday benefits, along with performance bonuses and travel allowances, are also provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
