Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Field Engineer- Electrical Switchboards. The position will be based at our facility in El Paso, Texas. The position does require travel 50% of the time.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

Position Summary:

The Customer Engineer- Electrical Switchboards is responsible for supporting quality assurance activities for switchboard and electrical distribution equipment at customer and data center sites. This role focuses on conducting field inspections, performing spot checks, identifying defects, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications. The position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to travel frequently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site quality inspections of electrical switchboards and associated equipment at data center facilities
  • Conduct spot checks and audits to identify defects, non-conformances, and workmanship issues
  • Verify installations against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards
  • Document inspection findings, including defects, root causes, and corrective action recommendations
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues
  • Utilize basic quality tools (5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Pareto Analysis, etc.) to analyze and report issues
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends and recurring defects
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company quality requirements
  • Provide clear and professional inspection reports and customer communication
  • Act as a technical liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and field operations

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with electrical switchboards, power distribution systems, or electrical equipment

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Quality (Six Sigma Green Belt, CQE, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience working in data centers or mission-critical environments
  • Knowledge of industry standards (IEC, ANSI, UL, etc.)
  • Experience with quality assurance processes and inspection methodologies
  • Experience with quality tools and problem-solving techniques (Lean, Six Sigma fundamentals preferred)
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical specifications

Additional Information:

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time
