The Fiber Technician II is responsible for all aspects of Fiber including but not limited to Cutting, Terminating, Inspecting, Packaging and Labeling.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DAILY TASKS
- Maintain a clean, neat, professional appearance… Wearing the company uniform during all project related duties unless specifically directed otherwise by a superior.
- Cabling & Termination
- Copper termination skills
- Termination LC, CS, SC, FC,,,connectors, for both multi-mode& single-mode fiber
- Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord
- Install fan out kits including buffer tube
- Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. AFL/Corning/Commscope)
- Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. Altos)
- Terminate indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber
- Calculate end to end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode & single-mode fiber
- Testing and Troubleshooting
- Splicing
- Complete all paperwork accurately and on time specifically: material transfers, work orders, change orders, others as required.
- Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of SGT Telecom.
- Attend classes and training sessions, as requested by SGT management, to obtain and maintain vendor certifications.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience with terminate, test or polishing of fiber optical cables.
- Valid Drivers License
- Finger & wrist dexterity & hand/eye coordination.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening
- Ability to use small hand tools.
- Ability to use power tools.
- Climbing of stairs, ladders.
- Relationship building skills– ability to work within a dynamic team setting and provide role model leadership to SGT workforce
- Communication Skills– Demonstrate communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, to help facilitate the sharing of information between people within the company and our clients.
- Must be able to work alone and with a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 40 lbs., and drive a vehicle.
- Job is usually performed in indoor/outdoor environments under multiple environmental conditions.
- Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.
- General hours of Monday through Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm. But ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required.
- Must be able to work in the United States.
