Fiber Optics Plant Mechatronics Maintenance Specialist

Site: Claremont Fiber (Prysmian Group) | Reports to: Claremont Fiber Maintenance Manager

Pay Range: $28-$38 based on experience | Schedule: 12-hour shift, 2-2-3 rotating (EOWEO)

A day in the life

Your shift begins with a quick review of overnight events and your maintenance plan. You walk the fiber manufacturing floor, noting equipment health, safety conditions, and any items that need immediate attention. A production call comes in—an intermittent fault on a PLC-controlled line. You lock out/tag out (LOTO), isolate the issue with a meter and oscilloscope, trace a control logic error, and bring the line back online. Later, you coach a teammate on a preventive maintenance procedure, document your work in SAP, and update the Maintenance Lead Person on tool needs. Mid-shift, you respond as a Medical First Responder in the Fiber Plant. By day’s end, you’ve improved reliability, protected people and assets, and captured your activities with accurate reporting.

What you’ll take on

  • Review and accurately document personal activities daily (or more frequently as needed).
  • Quickly learn Prysmian’s fiber manufacturing environment, equipment, philosophy, procedures, and practices.
  • Serve as a Medical First Responder within the Fiber Plant.
  • Participate in Prysmian’s pay-for-skill program to advance your capabilities.
  • Deliver timely, high-quality, and cost-effective maintenance support aligned to short- and long-range operating plans.
  • Maintain assets for reliability, availability, capacity, quality, and internal customer service.
  • Assist the Maintenance Lead Person and/or Maintenance Manager with proper installation and repair strategies for mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
  • Notify the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Lead Person if additional hand, power, or electronic diagnostic tools are required.
  • Execute preventive maintenance per Maintenance supervision.
  • Model safe work practices and adhere to all company policies at all times.
  • Help establish and maintain optimal inventory levels for critical components.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
