Fiber Optic Technician Job Description:
Perform installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling in commercial environments, including aerial, underground, and inside plant applications.
Execute fusion splicing on fiber cables, including high-count cables such as 48-strand fiber, ensuring low loss and high-quality connections.
Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to certify fiber links and troubleshoot signal loss or performance issues.
Read and interpret blueprints, splice diagrams, and network schematics to accurately route, splice, and document fiber infrastructure.
Build, organize, and maintain fiber enclosures, splice trays, patch panels, and rack systems within MDF and IDF environments.
Maintain detailed documentation of splicing results, test data, and labeling to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Basic Requirement:
2+years of experience installing fiber optic cabling.
Data Experience is a plus.
Must have an OSHA construction safety certification.
Must have a Valid Driver s License and own transportation.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
