The position requires the engineer to utilize mapping and fiber management systems like 3‑GIS, Arc GIS, OSP Insight, or CircuitVision. Being able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment encompassing construction and trouble management responsibilities for all aspects of physical fiber optic plant is vital for this position.Requirements1+ years of fusion splicing experiencePrevious experience with fiber management software such as Arc GIS, OSP Insight, 3‑GIS, or CircuitVisionDegree in GIS or FOT certificationSkills and Abilities2+ years installing, troubleshooting, and designing fiber optic and Ethernet physical transport in a service provider environment1+ years testing, QCing, and delivering high‑speed telecom services using test units such as OTDR, Fusion Splicer, Power Meter, and other fiber optic test sets1+ years directly managing inside and outside plant construction projects, capital budgets, and contractorsProficiency using mapping and fiber management software (Arc GIS, 3‑GIS, QGIS, Google Earth, CircuitVision)Proficiency using Microsoft Word & Excel, Visio and CAD softwareAvailability to perform on‑call work as prescribed, including after-hours (nights and weekends) call outsSelf‑motivated and the ability to make independent decisions based on policies, practices & project requirementsPrimary ResponsibilitiesSingle point of contact for all splicing design and troubleshootingDevelop accurate scope of work (SOW) documentation for activating new customersDevelop accurate method of procedure (MOP) documentation on any fiber related maintenance eventsCoordinate splicing contractors, including check‑in and check‑out documentation and ensuring timely delivery of as‑spliced documentationPerform oversight on fiber optic testing in relation to accepting newly installed plant or trouble repairs, using OTDR, CD/PMD, ORL and Power Meter, and/or other similar test setsPerform post‑construction quality assurance of splicing contractor work to ensure work meets standard telecommunication construction standards and meets the scope of work requirementsComplete and understand project milestones while monitoring status and providing regular updatesMaintain project records and files in appropriate systemsOther duties as assignedBluebird is an equal opportunity employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
