ECU Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness is seeking several certified Aquatic Lifeguards for the Summer 2026 academic term. Lifeguards will play an essential role in maintaining the safety and security of all patrons utilizing our aquatic facilities, particularly supporting summer camp activities and special events.

Term of Employment: May 16, 2026 - August 15, 2026

Position Title: Summer Aquatic Lifeguard

Hourly Pay: $15.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all participants, with particular emphasis on summer camp groups and activities.
  • Monitor pool and surrounding areas vigilantly to prevent accidents and ensure patron safety.
  • Enforce all aquatic facility rules and regulations.
  • Quickly and effectively respond to emergencies, providing first aid, CPR, and other lifesaving techniques as necessary.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and assist with daily pool maintenance and cleaning.
  • Complete required incident and accident reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and engage positively with participants, parents, and guardians.
  • Participate in mandatory training and in-service sessions to maintain certifications and enhance skills.

Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently certified as a Lifeguard, including CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Previous life guarding experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
