The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas is seeking a passionate and strategic Federal Advocacy Coordinator to lead and strengthen our federal advocacy efforts related to our Critical Concerns of Care for the Earth, Anti-Racism, and Women.
This is a highly visible and mission-critical role that works at the intersection of public policy, education, community organizing, and social justice. The Federal Advocacy Coordinator will engage, equip, and inspire members of the Mercy community while representing the Sisters of Mercy in national coalitions and advocacy initiatives that address the root causes of injustice.

Monitor and analyze federal policies related to Earth, Anti-Racism, and Women.
Develop advocacy strategies, educational resources, and action alerts that advance Mercy's Critical Concerns.
Represent the Sisters of Mercy in national and international coalitions, partnerships, and advocacy networks.
Identify opportunities for public engagement, advocacy campaigns, and solidarity actions.
Engage and mobilize members of the Mercy community around critical social justice issues.
Facilitate meetings, working groups, and committees that support advocacy and public action efforts.
Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations that share Mercy's commitment to justice.
Create educational opportunities that connect policy issues to Catholic Social Teaching and systemic change.
Support the Sisters of Mercy’s climate and sustainability goals through the development of educational resources/opportunities, identification of collaborators, calls to advocacy, screening of vendors/partners, and recommendations for personal lifestyle and institutional policy changes.
Advance Mercy's climate and sustainability goals through education, advocacy, and partnership development.
Integrate anti-racism, interculturality, nonviolence, and Mercy values into all aspects of the work.
Collaborate with the Mercy Justice Team to develop goals, timelines, budgets, and strategic initiatives.
Bachelor's degree in Theology, Social Justice, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field.
3–5 years of experience in advocacy, public policy, community organizing, education, or a related field.
Knowledge of social and environmental justice issues.
Familiarity with Catholic Social Teaching and faith-based advocacy.
Experience analyzing policy and translating complex issues into educational and advocacy materials.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%.
Experience working within a religious, nonprofit, healthcare, or mission-driven organization.
Spanish language proficiency.
Experience training, motivating, and inspiring others to action.
